Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) successfully conducted a significant drug bust in Jackson, arresting two individuals and recovering substantial quantities of illegal drugs and weapons. The operation targeted a residence on South Crownpointe Drive, leading to the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine, counterfeit pills, and firearms.
Details of the Drug Bust and Arrests
On August 7, MBN agents, in collaboration with Capitol Police, executed a search warrant at a home in Jackson. The operation resulted in the arrest of Racquel Taylor and Tyrone Samuel, both charged with aggravated trafficking. Additionally, Samuel faces a conspiracy charge and was out on bond for unrelated charges in Madison County at the time of the arrest.
Seizures and Evidence Recovered
Investigators uncovered a substantial cache of illegal substances and other contraband during the bust, including:
- 100 pounds of methamphetamine in Taylor’s possession
- 1,000 doses of counterfeit Oxycodone laced with fentanyl
- 2 pounds of marijuana
- A Draco 7.62-caliber rifle
- A stolen Ford Bronco from Kentucky
- A seized GMC Yukon
This seizure highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with counterfeit opioids and illicit drug trafficking in Mississippi.
Investigation Continues with More Arrests Expected
The MBN emphasized that the investigation is still active and additional arrests are anticipated as authorities continue to dismantle the drug network connected to this bust. This coordinated effort between state narcotics officials and local police marks a significant step in curbing drug trafficking in the Jackson area.
“This operation demonstrates our continued commitment to combating the spread of dangerous narcotics in our communities,” an MBN spokesperson said.
