A violent home invasion early Wednesday morning left a 43-year-old man injured in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. The incident happened around 5 a.m. in the 100 block of North Long Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Two suspects forced their way into the residence while the occupants were inside. During the break-in, one of the suspects shot a man in the abdomen. Afterward, they stole items from the home and escaped through the back, heading east.
Emergency services rushed the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital. At the time of the report, his condition remained unknown. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported during the incident.
Police have yet to identify or arrest the suspects involved in the break-in. The investigation is being handled by Area Four detectives, who are actively working to gather evidence and find those responsible.
