Man Bought Body Bag on Amazon Days Before Killing Real Estate Agent, Say Police

A man who is 21 years old and lives in California has been taken into custody for the alleged murder of his boss who is 75 years old. This comes one week after authorities said that the man had purchased a corpse bag from Amazon.

According to the announcement made by the authorities, Audrik Matevosian has been charged with one count of first-degree murder with three extraordinary circumstances as well as grand theft in connection with the disappearance of Robert “Bob” Boyajian.

Deputies responded to a welfare check request on Boyajian at approximately five o’clock on Monday, July 14, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. The request came after deputies received a call from one of Boyajian’s employees. The employee stated that he had missed an appointment and she was unable to reach him. She described the situation as “extremely unusual based on his consistent behavior.”

Boyajian was described as “a respected Bass Lake resident” and a “beloved” real estate professional by the authorities before his death. To be more specific, Madera County is located in the middle of the Golden State.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they found Boyajian’s single vehicle parked in the garage. They also found his briefcase and Apple Watch, which “he reportedly always wore,” inside the house. However, his cellphone, wallet, and bedding were all missing. Sheriff Tyson Pogue stated during a news briefing that the “totality of the circumstances” appeared to be “very out of character” for Boyajian, despite the fact that there were no obvious indications of foul play.

Matevosian, who the authorities claimed had previously worked in information technology for Boyajian, was contacted by the authorities after they attempted to gain access to the victim’s home security cameras. Matevosian offered investigators with material that was supposed to assist them in accessing the cameras. This information included passwords and recommendations for which applications to download; nonetheless, the investigators were still unable to view the audio or video footage.

During the course of the investigation, Matevosian allegedly presented investigators with a screenshot that supposedly demonstrated that the system was offline. After that, he instructed the deputies to go to a particular spot within the closet where a digital video recorder (DVR) need to be situated.

“However, the DVR was missing, which escalated our suspicions,” Pogue explained to reporters.

An individual withdrew $1,000 from Boyajian’s account at an automated teller machine (ATM) in Clovis, California, which is located just under 50 miles away from Boyajian’s residence. The investigators secured a search warrant for Boyajian’s financial records, and surveillance footage revealed that the transaction took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13. According to the allegations, surveillance footage from the vicinity revealed that Matevosian was the person who made the withdrawal, in addition to two other unsuccessful attempts.

There were multiple photographs taken of Matevosian at the automated teller machine, and the authorities received two tips that connected Matevosian to the alleged murder.

It has been reported that Matevosian attempted to remove money from Boyajian’s account (MCSO).

On July 16, investigators carried out a search warrant against the residence that Matevosian shared with his parents. During the course of the search, they discovered two weapons in Matevosian’s room. In March, it was revealed that one of them had been stolen, while the other happened to belong to the victim.

Matevosian allegedly confessed to the murder after agreeing to speak with detectives and then agreeing to do so.

“During that interview, Matevosian repeatedly referred to Mr. Boyajian in the past tense, which raised some concerns” Pogue explained to reporters. “At first, he asserted that Mr. Boyajian had taken his own life, but later, he revised his tale and stated that Mr. Boyajian had asked him to assist him in ending his life. After everything was said and done, he admitted to killing Mr. Boyajian after midnight on Saturday and then transporting his body to the Mojave desert, where he buried him in a cave.

Pogue proceeded by stating that Matevosian was driven to do the “premeditated homicide” by his animosity of Boyajian, whom he said had “spoken disparagingly about his family,” as well as by the desire to obtain financial benefit.

Pogue stated that Matevosian “purchased a bodybag from Amazon” at least one week before to the suspected murder, which is some additional evidence that Matevosian was allegedly preparing the murder. Additionally, Matevosian is said to have rented a vehicle on Saturday and then called Boyajian to make sure he was on his way home. After that, it was alleged that he went to Boyajian’s house and slept there for the night. This was not an unusual occurrence, according to the investigators, because Boyajian was said to have treated Matevosian and his brother as if they were his grandkids.

Around midnight, Matevosian is suspected of carrying out the murder of Boyajian.

“He wrapped the body in the bedding, placed it in the bodybag, and transported him to the Mojave desert,” Pogue explained to reporters. “Upon his return to Fresno, he used Boyajian’s ATM card to withdraw the $1,000.”

The Mojave National Preserve may be found in San Bernardino County, which is situated near Madera County and is approximately 400 miles to the south.

According to the investigators, they followed Matevosian’s directions properly and found the body in the exact location that he had predicted it would be. During the course of the investigation, Matevosian reportedly disclosed to the investigators that Boyajian had previously transported him to that place by means of recreational vehicles.

It was discovered that Matevosian’s locker at a gym in Fresno had the wallet that belonged to the victim.

A preliminary hearing is slated to take place on July 28. Matevosian is currently being held without bond and is due to appear in court on that date.
