Man Attacks Victim Outside Miami Panda Express, Steals $300 Using Zelle

Miami, FL – A 24-year-old man is facing serious charges after allegedly ambushing a man outside a Panda Express restaurant in Miami, using a metal bat to strike him over the head and stealing $300 from the victim’s phone via Zelle.

Incident Overview

On April 29, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim—whose identity has not been disclosed—was approaching the Panda Express located at 8750 West Flagler Street in Miami. As he neared the restaurant, Reiver Jose Sanchez-Molero, 24, believed to be from Hillsboro, Texas, attacked the man unexpectedly.

According to the arrest warrant, Sanchez-Molero was armed with a metal bat and began chasing the victim through the parking lot. The suspect then struck the victim multiple times on the head, causing serious injuries.

Forced Robbery and Zelle Transaction

The assault didn’t end there. The warrant alleges that Sanchez-Molero forced the victim to the ground, preventing him from leaving the scene. Afterward, the suspect allegedly took the victim’s phone and transferred $300 from it to his own account using the Zelle banking application.

Surveillance footage and a transaction picture were included in the arrest warrant, which confirmed the victim’s account and showed the suspect fleeing the scene in a white sedan.

Identification and Arrest

Investigators traced the phone number where the stolen money had been sent, which led to Sanchez-Molero’s identification. Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were able to positively confirm his identity.

The victim also identified Sanchez-Molero as the assailant, providing further evidence in the case. By late June, investigators tracked Sanchez-Molero’s vehicle to Hillsboro, Texas. He was arrested on Tuesday, and jail records show that he is currently being held on charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment, as well as for immigration-related issues.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Sanchez-Molero now faces several charges:

  • Armed robbery with a deadly weapon
  • Aggravated battery with a weapon causing bodily harm
  • False imprisonment with a deadly weapon

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, and the suspect remains in custody pending further legal action.

Community Impact

This violent attack has drawn attention in the Miami area, especially given the rising concerns over safety in public spaces. Officials are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior, particularly in areas with high foot traffic like shopping centers and restaurants.
