Etoile, Texas — A routine traffic stop in Nacogdoches County has led to the seizure of nearly two pounds of methamphetamine and multiple felony charges, after deputies uncovered drugs allegedly destined for the small East Texas community of Chireno.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Investigation
On Tuesday, December 23, deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle for a traffic violation along Highway 103 near Etoile. The vehicle was occupied by Molly Elizabeth Bowling, 53, and Lillyana Marie Pena, 18, both of whom had recently moved to Chireno, Texas, according to investigators.
During the initial roadside interview, deputies reported that both occupants appeared unusually nervous and provided conflicting accounts about their recent travel. Based on those observations, deputies sought permission to search the vehicle, but consent was denied.
K-9 Alert Provides Probable Cause
Following the refusal, deputies requested assistance from a Texas Department of Public Safety K-9 unit. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.

Jail records indicate that bond was set at $100,000 per charge for each suspect by the on-call magistrate.
