Major Drug and Firearms Bust on Summit Avenue Leads to Three Arrests, Police Say

Greensboro, N.C. – A large pre-dawn operation on Summit Avenue resulted in three arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms, and cash, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Authorities said officers and SWAT teams executed warrants in the 1500 block of Summit Avenue and the 4700 block of Oremba Circle early Wednesday morning, uncovering a substantial narcotics operation involving cocaine, fentanyl, and multiple guns. Police also noted that several juveniles were inside the home during the raid.

Overview of the Early-Morning Operation

Investigators reported that the coordinated entry was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation targeting distribution activity in the area. Officers recovered more than 15 ounces of cocaine, 2.5 ounces of fentanyl, cash, and five firearms, including one confirmed stolen weapon.

Captain Flowers of the Narcotics Investigation Unit said juveniles were present when officers entered, adding that no one was injured during the operation.

What Police Found at the Scene

The amount of cocaine and fentanyl seized indicates a trafficking-level operation, according to detectives. Police stated that a “trafficking heroin” charge also applies to fentanyl under North Carolina law.
Recovered items included:

  • Over 15 ounces of cocaine
  • 2.5 ounces of fentanyl
  • Five firearms
  • Cash connected to the alleged drug operation
  • One firearm listed as stolen

Authorities said the presence of children inside the residence elevated the severity of several charges.

Arrests and Charges Announced

Three individuals were taken into custody during the raid. Police released the following details:

Antonio Haizlip, 31

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Possession of firearm by felon
  • Sell/deliver narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Child abuse

Semaje Wilhite-Haizlip, 25

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Sell/deliver narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Child abuse

Leigha Walker, 44

  • Child abuse
  • Possession of firearm by felon
  • Possession of marijuana

Police did not report any resistance during the arrests and confirmed that all three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Concerns About Children Found Inside the Residence

Officials emphasized that the discovery of juveniles in a home containing drugs and weapons added significant risk. Captain Flowers said the situation illustrates how dangerous narcotics operations can be for children, noting that fentanyl alone poses extreme exposure hazards.

Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation

The Summit Avenue corridor has seen increased enforcement activity as officers work to reduce violent crime and drug trafficking in surrounding neighborhoods. Police said Wednesday’s operation was part of that effort and that more investigative work is underway to determine whether additional individuals or locations are connected to the seized narcotics.

Anyone with information about illegal drug activity in the area is encouraged to contact Greensboro Crime Stoppers.
