Maine Man Found Dead in Car Outside Massachusetts Hospital; Person of Interest Identified

Weymouth, MA – Authorities have identified the man found dead in a car outside South Shore Hospital over the weekend as 27-year-old Declan Perry from Portland, Maine, officials said.

Discovery of the Body

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, police received a call just after 2 p.m. on Saturday about a body found in the back seat of a black Honda Civic, wrapped in multiple blankets secured with duct tape. The car, parked outside the hospital’s emergency room entrance, displayed a Maine license plate.

Perry’s father, Brendan Perry, confirmed the car belonged to his son and described Declan as “a family guy, a good kid with a ton of friends”, noting that the family is devastated by the loss Boston Globe.

Investigation and Person of Interest

Officials have identified a possible person of interest following a tip from neighbors in Scituate.

“Neighbors saw news coverage of the incident and contacted Scituate Police to report that they had seen a man loading a large, heavy blanket into the black Honda Civic at their neighbor’s residence earlier Saturday,” said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz Boston Globe.

Police reported that the person of interest and the victim knew each other, though the individual’s identity has not been released. Officers have searched the residence and collected items for evidence.

Cause of Death and Next Steps

Perry’s cause of death has not yet been determined, and an autopsy was scheduled for Sunday. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
