Phoenix, Arizona—A mother with doomsday religious beliefs who claimed that people in her life had been possessed by evil spirits—will be sentenced on Friday on two murder conspiracy convictions. Daybell is already involved in the murders of her two youngest children and a romantic rival.
In Arizona, Vallow Daybell was found guilty in two separate trials this spring of plotting the murders of Brandon Boudreaux and her husband, Charles Vallow. According to authorities, she executed the schemes alongside her brother Alex Cox, who admitted to killing Vallow in July 2019 and was named by prosecutors as the shooter who attempted to hit Boudreaux but failed months later.

In order to collect on his $1 million life insurance policy and marry her then-boyfriend Chad Daybell, an Idaho author of multiple religious novels about prophecies and the end of the world, prosecutors claim that Vallow Daybell plotted to kill Vallow. According to them, Boudreaux believed that Cox and Vallow Daybell were to blame for Vallow’s demise. Then, according to the prosecution, Boudreaux fled with his kids out of concern that Cox would murder him.
Interest in Vallow by the public As the inquiry into her own missing children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua JJ Vallow, took a number of odd and unexpected twists, Daybell, 52, became more involved. On June 9, 2020, their remains were found on Chad Daybell’s ranch in rural Idaho.
In connection with the murders of the children and his wife, Tammy, the romantic rival, Chad Daybell received a death sentence. Vallow Daybell was found guilty of planning Tammy’s murder.
For each of Vallow Daybell’s most recent convictions, prosecutors in Arizona are requesting life sentences. Vallow Daybell will return to prison in Idaho after being sentenced in Arizona.
Family members described Vallow Daybell as nasty, selfish, and a murderess as they related stories of their own losses when she appeared in court on Friday in an orange jail uniform. The sole surviving child of Vallow Daybell, Colby Ryan, testified via remote link and explained how he had to struggle to survive following the anguish of losing his father and brothers.
Ryan specifically targeted his mother, who has maintained that the Arizona instances were family tragedies that had no business going to trial. Ryan stated, “I think the family tragedy is Lori Vallow herself.”
In 2019, Charles Vallow was shot and killed.
A divorce was filed by Charles Vallow four months prior to his death. According to him, Vallow Daybell became a person who claimed to have lived several lives on many worlds. He told the police that he was worried about his kids and that she had threatened to murder him.
According to investigators, Vallow was shot as he went to pick up his son from Vallow Daybell’s house outside of Phoenix. Tylee, the daughter of Vallow Daybell, told police that she was awakened by the sound of shouting and defended her mother by confronting Vallow with a baseball bat. She was able to lose the bat to Vallow.
When Vallow refused to drop the bat and chased after him, Cox said authorities he shot him.
A blood clot in Cox’s lungs caused his death five months later. Cox and Vallow Daybell later questioned his self-defense claim, according to investigators.
Adam Cox, Vallow’s other brother, and his wife tried to reintegrate Lori into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints just before Vallow passed away.
Adam Cox, a prosecution witness, stated that his sister was undergoing the process of transforming from a mortal human to a celestial creature, or immortal human. He added that she claimed that a zombie was inside her estranged husband’s corpse and that Vallow was dead.
Months later, Brandon Boudreaux was shot at.
Boudreaux was driving up to his house in Gilbert, another Phoenix suburb, when he was shot from an open window of a Jeep, about three months after Vallow’s death. The ex-husband of Boudreaux was just barely missed.
Pawlowski wanted to be like her aunt, according to Boudreaux. In 2018, the two began going to religious gatherings together. Pawlowski quickly stated that they ought to do it for the sake of the globe.
The Jeep was linked to Vallow Daybell, according to the prosecution, who lent it to Alex Cox. According to prosecutors, the two attempted to create an alibi for Cox that would make it appear as though he was in Idaho at the time and purchased a burner phone that was used to carry out the attack.
Vallow Daybell is acting on her own behalf.
Despite not being a lawyer, Vallow Daybell decided to represent herself at both trials in Arizona, in contrast to her Idaho case.
She claimed her brother Alex Cox killed Vallow in self-defense during her initial trial. She found it difficult to perform legal tasks that most attorneys take for granted.
At the second trial in Arizona, she contended that there was no proof that she and Cox had plotted Boudreaux’s murder.
Vallow Daybell assured jurors that he was not defensive. I’m not upset.
She argued that Judge Justin Beresky was biased against her and attempted to have him removed from the case after their disagreement. Despite complaining that she didn’t have enough time to prepare, she insisted on using her right to a quick trial.
Vallow Daybell said she was unable to attend the trial due to illness during the jury selection process for the Boudreaux case. Beresky persisted, claiming that her assertion was unsupported by any objective data.
