According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas, precipitation is expected to begin late Thursday, continuing through Friday before tapering off by Saturday morning.
Heavy Rain Expected Friday
The heaviest rainfall is forecast for Friday, particularly in areas along and south of Interstate 15. This will impact portions of southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona. The system is expected to bring scattered to widespread rain, although the intensity of the rainfall will depend on the available atmospheric instability.
The NWS outlook suggests that the greatest chance for significant rain will occur in Boulder City, Laughlin, and Kingman, where the probabilities for rainfall on Friday morning and afternoon exceed 60–75%. Barstow and Pahrump, farther north, are likely to experience lighter showers or shorter rainfall periods.
Tropical Moisture and Impact on Travel
Forecasters are particularly focused on how much tropical moisture remains intact as the system moves through the region, which will dictate the storm’s strength. Rain chances will quickly diminish on Saturday as the system moves eastward, exiting the region.
Travelers on Interstate 15 and U.S. 93 are advised to be cautious, as wet roads and brief downpours may reduce visibility and slow travel.
