Los Angeles, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit Thursday evening near downtown Los Angeles after attempting to stop a suspect wanted in an assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.
Police Say Chase Began on City Streets
According to the LAPD, the pursuit began at approximately 8:10 p.m. when officers identified a suspect vehicle connected to an assault with a deadly weapon. The driver initially traveled along surface streets while being followed by police units.
Suspect Entered 10 Freeway Before Abandoning Vehicle
During the chase, the suspect entered the 10 Freeway, continuing eastbound before eventually exiting and stopping beneath an underpass. Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle at that location.
Officers quickly moved in and took at least one person into custody, according to preliminary information released by the department.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect’s identity, the nature of the assault, or whether additional suspects may have been involved. No injuries to officers or bystanders were immediately reported.
The incident remains under investigation, and LAPD said further updates may be provided as more information becomes available.
