Kentucky Woman Accused of Running Illegal Day Care Indicted on Human Trafficking and Child Abuse Charges

Bardstown, Kentucky — A Kentucky woman has been charged with running an unregistered childcare service.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, a grand jury indicted Katelyn Rogers, 27, on charges of human trafficking and criminal mistreatment.

The sheriff’s office announced the accusations on Facebook, citing an investigation into incidences in Nelson County between February and May 30 of this year.

She allegedly pressured and manipulated an employee to work without pay while running the child care center, “using intimidation to compel her continued labor,” according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Rogers willfully abused a kid under the age of 12 by torturing, confining, or imposing other forms of cruel punishment.

She also allegedly attempted to “influence and intimidate” the same employee into lying to investigators about the number of children they were caring for and other aspects of the facility’s operations.

Rogers reportedly changed video footage and deleted text conversations to obstruct an ongoing inquiry.
