, so the fact that elderly people are getting extra aid sounds amazing. They are the ones who may suffer the most from the cost of living and duties.

Let’s find out what Donald Trump’s government has to offer with this draft bill.

What does Social Security offer?

This is a system that provides financial support to American citizens coming from workers and employers’ contributions and government funding. There are different benefits for specific situations like unemployment, disability or retirement.

If you are in a difficult financial situation and you want to be informed on what benefit you could apply for, go to the United States Social Security Administration website. Here, you will find all the information and you could also contact Social Security workers to help you with anything.

‘One, Big Beautiful Bill’

Some policymakers, from the Republican Party at the House of Representatives of the United States, introduced a draft bill named ‘One, Big Beautiful Bill’. Let’s see how big and beautiful this bill really is.

What they want to achieve with this bill is several points concerning taxes. First of all, they want to increase the country’s debt up to $4 trillions, so that the government can keep asking for money to pay their expenses.

Another point this bill will tackle is the continuation of the reduction of taxes approved by Trump’s government in 2017. The expiration date for this Trump’s legislation is at the end of this year, so this new bill would stop it.

The last point of this bill is paying less taxes, cutting taxes from tips, overtime and some vehicle loans. Donald Trump promised to get rid of Social Security benefits’ taxes, but there is no information about that in the bill. However, elderly beneficiaries  American citizens will see a special tax deduction.

Tax deduction on elderly beneficiaries

This is one of the most important aspects of the draft bill because elderly people will have a deduction on their income which will benefit them when it comes to the annual tax return.

Let’s see this much clearer with an example, imagine you are over 65 years old and you are a Social Security beneficiary, then you could get an additional deduction of $4,000 when you do your annual tax return. You will see this change on the 2026 annual tax return. Basically, you would pay less taxes.

However, there are some requirements for obtaining this deduction. Depending on the income, people with lower income will get the whole deduction whereas the ones with a higher income will experience a reduction on their deductions.

Date for the ‘One, Big Beautiful Bill’

Well, at the moment it is just a draft bill, it isn’t an official law. To reach this point, this draft needs to be approved by the House of Representatives, then passed by the Senate and, last, it needs to be signed by the President of the United States.

This bill seems to be a good choice for elderly people, so that they can have more money at the end of the month and afford some basic needs they might be lacking now. So, let’s hope this bill gets approved as soon as possible and make these American citizens feel relieved with their financial situations.
