FRANKFORT, Ky. — After Kentucky was hit by bad weather on Sunday, Gov. Andy Beshear declared a State of Emergency on social media.
“The commonwealth is still being hit by severe weather, with reports of wind damage and tornadoes.” Beshear wrote on Facebook at 11:07 p.m. on Sunday, May 26: “I have declared a state of emergency to make sure that the affected communities have the tools they need to respond.” “We’ll give you more details when they become available.” Everyone, stay safe. Like always, we’ll get through this together.
Beshear released a video on Sunday afternoon saying that the weather had caused a lot of damage and one death in Kentucky so far. This news comes after that video.
A man was hit by a tree, and the Louisville Metro Police Department said the man was declared dead at the scene.
“Louisville, I’m sorry to say that one person has died because of the severe weather that just hit the area. There has also been damage to some buildings.” “Please join me in praying for this family during this hard time. May their memory be a blessing,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg wrote on the social media site X.
Greenberg also reminded everyone that the weather is going to get worse overnight and urged everyone to stay safe and aware.
A Tornado Watch has also been issued for several counties in southern Kentucky until Monday, May 27 at 1 a.m.
