Police say Travis Scott got drunk and yelled at people on a boat in Miami Beach, Florida, early Thursday morning. He was then arrested on a disorderly intoxication charge.
Scott, 33, the “goosebumps” rapper whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 4:30 a.m. on charges of being drunk and rowdy and trespassing after being warned.
Bradford Cohen, Mr. Scott’s lawyer, said, “Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding.” “There was no physical altercation at all, and we appreciate the police working with us to find a quick and peaceful solution.”
A statement from the Miami Beach police arrest shows that Scott was caught after they were called to the Miami Beach Marina early Thursday morning about a disturbance on a yacht. Someone called the police to say that there were fights on the ship.
Police said they found Scott “standing by the dock yelling at the people on the boat.” Officials say that at first he did what the cops told him to do and sat down, but then he ignored them. The person who called the police said he didn’t want to press charges and just wanted Scott to leave the ship, the cops said.
The statement said that officers could smell “a strong smell of alcohol coming from the defendant’s breath.”
He finally agreed to leave the dock after being threatened with arrest, but he didn’t leave quietly, according to police. The statement said that on the way to the boardwalk, Scott “walked backwards yelling obscenities to the occupants of the vessel.”
Authorities say he left the port but came back five minutes later and was seen walking back toward the boat.
At that point, Scott talked to a sergeant he had already talked to and started yelling again, “becoming erratic” and “disturbing the peace of the residents of the marina and nearby residential buildings causing a public disturbance,” the affidavit said.
The statement said that he was arrested at 1:17 a.m. It was later said that Scott admitted he had been drinking and said, “It’s Miami.”
Later Thursday, he put an updated picture of his mug shot on his Instagram story, this time with headphones and sunglasses on.
Their two kids, Stormi, 6, and Aire, 2, are together, but they are no longer together.
He was caught just eight days before he was supposed to start his Circus Maximus tour in the Netherlands.
