Hartselle Woman Arrested After Children Test Positive for Meth Exposure

HARTSELLE, AL.— A Hartselle woman is facing charges after police allege she introduced children to meth.

According to the Hartselle Police Department, Katelynn Breanna Smith, 27, has been charged with child endangerment by chemicals.

HPD stated that in August 2024, officers responded to concerns about youngsters being exposed to harmful substances at an apartment complex. Following an investigation, the children were removed from their parents and placed in foster care.

Later, medical tests revealed that the children had been exposed to methamphetamine.

After an inquiry, Smith was given a warrant for the chemical endangerment of a child. She was found in Tennessee, where she had been arrested on similar allegations.

After being released by Tennessee law enforcement, she was extradited to Morgan County. Smith was booked into the Morgan County Jail and is being detained on a $2,500 bond.
