Bloomington, California – Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department uncovered a firearm, illegal drugs, cash, gambling machines and multiple stolen vehicles during a raid at a Bloomington auto repair shop this week, authorities said.
The search took place Tuesday at Red’s Shop, located at 18745 4th St., after investigators received reports of ongoing illegal activity at the business. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the operation led to several arrests and the seizure of evidence tied to drug distribution, vehicle theft and illegal gambling.
Investigation Leads to Search Warrant
Sheriff’s officials said deputies executed a search warrant at Red’s Shop following information suggesting the location was being used for criminal operations beyond auto repair. The business was allegedly functioning as a hub for multiple illegal activities, prompting law enforcement to move forward with the raid.
During the search, deputies reported finding multiple illegal gambling machines, a large quantity of narcotics, a firearm, a digital scale, and U.S. currency in various denominations. Authorities also confirmed the discovery of multiple stolen vehicles on the property.
Investigators believe the combination of evidence points to organized criminal activity operating out of the shop.
Arrest of Business Operator
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Gustavo Escobar, who oversees operations at Red’s Shop, was arrested at the scene. He was booked on charges including operating a drug house, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and possession of stolen vehicles.
Officials later confirmed that Escobar has since been released from custody. Jail records indicate that no court appearance has been scheduled for him at this time.
Authorities did not disclose the type or quantity of narcotics seized, citing the ongoing investigation.
Second Search Targets Shop Owner’s Home
Later on Tuesday, deputies carried out a separate search at the residence of Carlos Gonsalez Ledesma, identified as the owner of Red’s Shop. During that search, investigators reportedly found $29,000 in cash, which authorities believe represents proceeds from the illegal activities conducted at the auto shop.
Ledesma was arrested the following day and booked on multiple charges, including operating a chop shop, operating a drug house, and running an illegal gambling operation, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
As of the latest update, Ledesma remains in custody at the Central Jail. Jail records show that no court date has yet been scheduled for him.
What Authorities Say Was Discovered
Sheriff’s officials emphasized the scope of the operation, noting that the evidence collected suggests more than one type of criminal enterprise was active at the location.
Items seized during the investigation include:
- Illegal gambling machines
- Narcotics believed to be intended for sale
- A firearm
- A digital scale commonly used in drug distribution
- Cash in multiple denominations
- Several stolen vehicles
Authorities have not yet released details about the make or model of the stolen vehicles or whether additional suspects may be involved.
Ongoing Investigation
The Sheriff’s Department said the investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests could follow as detectives continue to review evidence and trace the origins of the stolen vehicles and gambling equipment.
Officials have not said how long Red’s Shop had been under investigation prior to the raid or whether customer vehicles were affected.
