The automotive industry is getting greener when it comes to finding a way to manufacture their engines, there is a will for finding the healthiest engine for the environment.
The internal combustion engine is not perceived to be in future cars, that’s why many companies want to incorporate technological innovation to their engines. Mazda, a Japanese company, is doing this by launching a new car using a four-cylinder engine.
Companies are testing many types of engines, but there isn’t a perfect engine yet that will be the healthiest and the most efficient of all. I’m sure you are curious about the new Mazda car and what it has to offer the future.
Why are there so many types of engines?
Many countries are concerned about climate change, so they want to start the change with engines. Normally, drivers use gasoline or diesel engines which pollute the planet the most. Most companies that are starting to incorporate new and cleaner engines are from Japan (Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Nissa, among many) and the famous American company Tesla is also in the game.
One of the alternative engines is the electric vehicles (EV), which use electricity instead of gasoline. They need to be charged and they are way more environmentally friendly than internal combustion engines.Some famous companies involved in this type of engine are Tesla, Hyundai and Ford.
On the other hand, hydrogen engines are even cleaner than EV because they use hydrogen to move and the only element coming out of the exhaust is water vapor. Toyota and Hyundai are pioneers in this technology.
Japan’s technological innovation
As we have seen, many companies are going for EV or hydrogen engine cars, but Mazda has its own proposal with the use of gasoline. You might think this is not a green proposal and there’s no way this could be the future engine. However, they use gasoline engines, but cleaner and more modern – this is the

Mazda’s Skyactiv-Z
The Japanese company is coming up with a new engine named Skyactiv-Z and it is considered as an innovation in the traditional engines as being less polluting and more efficient.
The brand believes focusing on improving traditional engines is key because they think there will be room for these engines for a while. What’s more, they suggest that in a world where most companies are giving importance to no-gasoline engines, some countries won’t be able to afford service stations to charge cars and these new cleaner cars are still so expensive.
So, Mazda is supporting the idea of keeping gasoline engines, but finding a way to improve it and make it greener so that they can live in a healthier environment.
What do people think about the Japanese decision?
Well, opinions are divided between the ones who believe Mazda should invest in EV whereas others think they are doing okay and customers will appreciate it.
The company insists on the fact that the investment on EV is too high and they don’t see the point in doing that when there is a solution for gasoline engines.
I’m afraid both sides are right, we need to make technology we use everyday much more environmentally friendly and it is also true that most people can’t afford paying for a new car and even more so an EV. Unfortunately, there’s not much we, as citizens, can do here as it all depends on the big companies.
