JCB is launching a hydrogen engine!
Unlike Tesla’s electric vehicles, this hydrogen engine doesn’t use any batteries because what makes JCB’s hydrogen cars move is burning hydrogen.

These vehicles will use hydrogen engines which don’t pollute at all if the hydrogen is properly burned, because these engines will only emit water vapor. No more damaging gas in the environment!
The company has made a lot of efforts to create this hydrogen engine. They have invested $121 million to develop it and more than 150 people have been working on it for 3 years. This shows the will of the company to launch them, so that citizens can use their cars.
Differences between hydrogen and batteries
As we mentioned before, Tesla uses chargeable batteries for their electric cars which are very problematic because they take a long time to be fully charged, they are heavy and they work for a limited time. They wouldn’t be useful for heavy machinery, for example.
On the other hand, JCB’s hydrogen engines can be charged within minutes (like a traditional car), they don’t weight as much as a big battery and they can be used for heavy machinery or vehicles that are used for so many hours, like construction ones or lorries.
Tesla might go down
Tesla has focused mainly on electric vehicles, which was considered the best oil-free option on vehicles to reduce pollution. Well, this might change if hydrogen engines started being used and growing, Tesla would lose business on heavy transport, construction machinery, agriculture and electric generators. Currently, Tesla is not prepared to compete against companies like JCB which are investing in hydrogen.
