Friends and family said nice things about Grace, saying she had a “beautiful smile” and a “kind heart.”

One coworker wrote on the funeral page, “It was a pleasure working with you and getting to know you. I loved hearing your laugh, and we both love to eat.” “Merry Christmas to you, your family, and your babies.” We will miss you.

Someone wrote, “Prayers and love to her family, especially her kids.” She was a sweet young woman who was close to my daughter. We will miss her a lot. We love you.

“Grace, your spirit and vibe were everything.” Someone else wrote, “You were so kind and innocent, you didn’t deserve this.”

A correctional guard was killed at Smith State Prison in October, making this the second death there in less than a year.

The GDC said at the time that Prison Officer Robert Clark was leading two criminals out of the dining hall when one of them attacked him from behind with a homemade weapon.

The other criminal moved in to help Clark and was also beaten up. Clark, who was 42 years old, was taken to the hospital to get help, but he later died from his injuries.

Commissioner Tyrone Oliver said in a statement at the time, “The GDC team is saddened by the death of one of our own, and we send our deepest condolences to Officer Clark’s family and friends.”

“We will be there for them in the days, weeks, and months to come as they deal with this tragedy.”
