“He has more work to do.” “But things look good,” Noah Mason’s grandma said.
Authorities said a 5-year-old boy was hurt in a multi-car crash in Georgia last week that killed his parents and two older brothers. The boy was released from the hospital a few days later.
An update on a GoFundMe page set up for Noah Mason’s family says that he left the hospital on Friday, May 24 in the afternoon.
The grandma of Noah wrote on the fundraiser, “We are overjoyed that our sweet Noah is on his way to his new home.”
“He has more work to do.” “But things look good,” she said. “We will never fully get over the loss of his family and ours.” God blessed us with a five-year-old, though, who will never let us slow down or be sad.
Again, she said, “Thank you all for the prayers, gifts, food, toys, and the people who helped us out when we couldn’t be in two places at once, like the person who mowed their lawn.”
Noah and his family were driving north on I-75 in their Kia on May 19. The Georgia Department of Public Safety says the van “left the roadway, crossed the grass median, and entered the southbound lanes of I-75 for unknown reasons.”
“A Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner were hit by the Kia van,” the department said. The Kia van and the Toyota 4Runner were then hit by a commercial car after the first crash. Also, the back of the Chevy Tahoe was hit by a Hyundai SUV.
Three people in the Kia were declared dead at the scene of the accident. They were Dakarai Mason, 43, Erin Mason, 35, and 14-year-old Brandon Crawford.
Two more teens, later named as Titus Mason, 6, and Noah Mason, his brother, were taken to a nearby hospital. The GoFundMe says that Titus died on May 22, but Noah is expected to return to good health.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, the truck driver, Aimee Odom, 21, was also killed in the crash.
Friends of Odom told WSB, an ABC station, that she was at a graduation party before what happened.
In the most current update to Noah’s GoFundMe, his grandmother thanked the medical staff for their help during the whole ordeal.
“I want to say a very special thank you to all the nurses, doctors, counselors, tech staff, the group in the PICU, the group from PT, and even the police officers in the lobby who always checked in and prayed at Scottish Rite,” she said. “Each of you is a unique person.” Without all of you, we would not have made it through this. We all grew to love each other. We will always be thankful. “God bless you all.”
The money from the GoFundMe page will cover Noah’s hospital bills. As of Monday morning, May 27, more than $60,000 had been raised.
