Former “The Voice” Contestant Kata Hay Arrested on Vehicular Homicide Charges

Goodlettsville, Tennessee – Kata Hay, a country music singer who rose to national attention as a contestant on The Voice, has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide following a motor vehicle crash in Tennessee, according to police and court records.

Hay, whose real name is Kata Huddleston, was taken into custody after the Goodlettsville Police Department issued a BOLO alert earlier this week. Details of the arrest and prior incidents were first reported by Whiskey Riff, with additional confirmation from local outlets including WKRN.

Police Issued BOLO After Crash Near I-65

Authorities said the BOLO was issued after Huddleston was identified as having outstanding warrants for vehicular homicide connected to a crash on Long Hollow Pike near Interstate 65. At the time, police stated they believed she may have been traveling toward Oklahoma with a white male and possibly towing a large camper.

The alert prompted cooperation with law enforcement agencies outside Tennessee as officials worked to locate the singer.

Arrest Made in Oklahoma, Extradition Underway

On December 17, Goodlettsville Police announced that Huddleston had been arrested in Oklahoma. Officials said she is now being extradited back to Davidson County, Tennessee, to face the vehicular homicide charge.

Police have not released further details about the crash itself or the circumstances that led to the warrant.

Additional Legal Issues Reported

According to Whiskey Riff, the vehicular homicide charge is part of a broader pattern of legal trouble for Huddleston. The outlet reports that she is also facing charges related to DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving more than $1,500 in damage, and open container violations.

Court records cited by the outlet indicate Huddleston was previously on probation stemming from a 2017 DUI case in Nashville.

Prior Conviction and Jail Sentence

Local station WKRN reported that Huddleston had also been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty in an earlier case involving sexual contact with a minor. That conviction predates the current vehicular homicide charge but has resurfaced amid renewed public scrutiny.

Career Background on “The Voice”

Huddleston appeared on The Voice during Season 10, where she competed as a member of Christina Aguilera’s team. She advanced into the Top 20 before being eliminated during the first week of the playoff rounds.

Her appearance on the show brought her national recognition within the country music scene, though her career has since been overshadowed by repeated legal issues.

Case Remains Ongoing

Authorities have not yet released information on court dates or whether additional charges could be filed. Officials say further details will become available once Huddleston is formally returned to Tennessee and appears before a judge.
