Police say a guy in Florida broke into a woman’s home, stabbed her while she was sleeping, and then tried to escape from police.
Brigitte Police say that 33-year-old Jose Sarmiento Lanza broke into a woman’s home on New York Drive in Tice, Florida, on Sunday and stabbed her several times while she was sleeping.
Lanza hit someone else inside the house as well before running away.
When police arrived, they treated the woman’s multiple injuries while the sheriff’s office’s drone unit tried to find the suspect who was running away from them.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, “I am proud of the deputies and drone operator who quickly found and caught this violent suspect who was fleeing.” “Once again, technology and dedicated patrol deputies working together get results.”
The woman is said to be in stable condition by the sheriff’s office.
The police chief said Lanza and the woman knew each other.
Lanza is accused of two counts of burglary with abuse and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
