Feds Offering $5,000 Reward in Wake of Sacramento Shooting That Critically Wounded 8-year-old

The Sacramento Police Department says that the federal government is giving a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the shooter who hit and seriously hurt an 8-year-old girl in Upper Land Park last month.

The child was badly hurt on July 2 when several shots were fired at the Alder Grove housing complex in the 2600 block of Kit Carson Street, according to Police Department spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble. He said she was “fighting for her life” in the hospital after being taken there.

The department said it was working with the ATF field office in San Francisco, which was giving out the prize.

Call 888-ATF-TIPS or 916-808-0800 if you know anything about the killing or the person who did it. Callers can stay unknown.

After that, the child made some progress in getting better, but Gamble said there is still “a long road ahead” and no way to know what long-term damage might have happened.
