Texas’s Killeen (KWTX) Following injuries sustained when a man drove his car through the Killeen Mall last weekend, a family is recuperating.
According to Texas DPS, John Darrel Schultz, 53, was being chased by police when he crashed his pickup into the JC Penney store at the Killeen Mall.
According to Texas DPS, Schultz drove over four individuals and injured another after crashing through the JC Penny’s front doors before being shot and killed by police.
Members of the Moreno family were among the four people hurt in the event.
Jacqueline Moreno, Lesyalie Moreno, Lesmes Moreno Sr., and 6-year-old Shameris Moreno were at the mall purchasing Christmas presents when the awful incident happened, according to the family’s GoFundMe page.
While the other three stayed for treatment, Lesmes Moreno Sr. received hospital therapy before being released.
According to the GoFundMe, Lesyalie Moreno had surgery after being in the intensive care unit and was then transferred to a regular hospital ward.
Despite having a damaged ankle and hip fracture, Jacqueline Moreno has been transferred from the hospital to a nursing skills facility to start physical training, according to the GoFundMe page.
According to the GoFundMe, Shameris Moreno sustained internal bruises that impacted her oxygen levels, a broken rib, and a shattered ankle. According to the GoFundMe, she is currently in a wheelchair but has left the hospital.
