Family Devastated After Brother Killed and Sister Shot in Barron, Wisconsin

Barron, WI – A tragic shooting in Barron County has left a 20-year-old man dead and his pregnant 17-year-old sister critically injured, while officials work to remove a video of the incident that was posted online.

Deadly Shooting at Candy Lane Home

Authorities report that the shooting occurred on Wednesday in the 600 block of Candy Lane. Responding deputies found Tyler Sadowski, 20, deceased inside the home. His younger sister, Makayla, 17, who was pregnant, was also shot and rushed into surgery.

The suspect, identified as Makayla’s boyfriend, was found at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sheriff’s officials confirmed that the shooter posted a video of the attack on Snapchat, which they are working to have removed.

Family Account of the Incident

Shanay Conyers, cousin of the victims, described the harrowing moments leading up to the shooting.

“They came home from town and Makayla walked inside the house and they heard like a pop, so Tyler went to see what was happening,” Conyers explained.

Conyers says that moments later, Makayla’s boyfriend opened fire, injuring Makayla in the stomach and killing Tyler as he tried to protect his sister and mother.

“She was expecting, so they had to take the baby, and the baby is stable,” Conyers said. “Makayla was in surgery for quite a while yesterday. They expect to have another surgery tomorrow.”

Tyler’s family remembered him as kind-hearted and gentle, mourning the loss of someone described as “the nicest, sweetest person you would ever meet” with a “contagious laugh.”

Online Video Sparks Concern

Family members are alarmed that the violent incident was captured and shared online.

“If you post something like that, you definitely are a violent person,” Conyers said.

The Turtle Lake School District warned parents that some students may have received the video on Snapchat. The shooter is a former student who last attended the district’s middle school around four years ago, according to officials.

Community Support and Fundraising

In the wake of the tragedy, family members have begun raising money to help cover medical costs for Makayla and her baby. Community members are rallying around the family during this heartbreaking time.
