Wilmington, DE – Commuters across northern Delaware started their week under gray skies and light rain, with mist softening headlights along I-95 and Route 13 early Monday. Pavement remained slick during the morning rush, but conditions are expected to improve by late morning as drier air moves in from the west.
Cloudy Start Gives Way to Afternoon Sunshine
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, clouds will gradually clear through the afternoon, giving way to mild and breezy sunshine. Temperatures will rise into the low 60s across Wilmington and surrounding areas, making for a pleasant afternoon after the damp start.
Drivers are advised to use caution during the early commute, as lingering drizzle could reduce visibility and create slick spots on roadways.
By midday, sunshine breaks through and a west breeze develops, with gusts up to 15 mph. The crisp air and clearing skies will make for ideal conditions for outdoor errands, leaf cleanup, or early holiday decorating.
Mild Midweek Weather Pattern
Tuesday and Wednesday bring the region’s best stretch of weather this week, featuring sunshine, light winds, and highs near 60°F.
Meteorologists expect both days to remain dry and comfortable, marking a welcome pause before another front approaches later in the week.
“We’re looking at a classic November pattern — cool mornings, sunny afternoons, and breezy west winds,” forecasters at the National Weather Service said Monday.
The dry air and lighter winds will help keep skies clear overnight, with lows dipping into the 40s both nights.
Cooler Air Returns Late Week
A weaker cold front slides through the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, bringing slightly cooler air but no significant rain. Highs will settle back into the upper 50s, with clear skies and calm conditions lasting into Friday.
By late week, forecasters are watching a developing system that could bring rain back by the weekend, potentially becoming the region’s next measurable rainfall ahead of Veterans Day events.
Friday itself should remain pleasant and partly sunny, but increasing clouds could signal the next change in the weather pattern.
Delaware’s Early November Outlook
Early November in Delaware is often unpredictable, but this week’s mild stretch provides an excellent window for travel, yardwork, or outdoor projects before the next cool-down arrives.
Forecasters note that temperatures will trend downward again heading into mid-November, returning to more seasonal averages typical for this time of year.
“After such a mild start to the month, Delawareans should enjoy these calm days — the next round of chillier weather is just around the corner,”meteorologists said.
