Deadly Late-night Crash in Orange County Leaves Four Dead, One Critically Injured After BMW and Toyota Collide

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash in Orange County that killed four individuals late Saturday night.

Orange County Public Schools identified one of the four deaths as Sammy Lahik, a senior at Windermere High School.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred soon before 11 p.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of Central Florida Parkway east of Whitley Place.

According to troopers, a 2024 Toyota Camry and a 2024 BMW M2 were both going faster than the speed limit when the BMW attempted to overtake the Toyota by switching from the outside to the inside lane.

When the BMW driver attempted to return to the outer lane, his right rear wheel collided with the Toyota’s left front side.

Both vehicles were forced off the road and onto the south shoulder as a result of the collision. The Toyota hit a light pole before hitting a few trees. During the collision, a passenger in the back seat was ejected from the vehicle.

During the incident, the BMW collided with multiple trees.

The Toyota’s front seat passenger and the BMW’s driver were both pronounced dead on the scene. The Toyota’s rear passenger and the BMW’s passenger were taken to Orlando Health Dr. Phillips Hospital and were confirmed dead.

The Toyota driver was also sent to Orlando Health Dr. Phillips Hospital with critical injuries.

The crash is still being investigated by Florida Highway Patrol investigators.

According to OCPS, grief counselors will be available at Windermere High School on Monday to assist students and staff.
