DALLAS, TX – Dallas police seized a massive haul of methamphetamine, cash, and a handgun following a tip that led them to a location in West Oak Cliff. The bust, conducted on October 1, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 357 pounds of meth, valued at over $1 million, and $100,000 in cash.
How the Drug Bust Unfolded
The operation began when authorities received a tip about a suspect involved in drug trafficking. Following the lead, officers arrived at the 4300 block of Communications Drive and conducted a traffic stop, during which the illegal substances and cash were discovered. A handgun was also seized during the arrest.
One person was detained during the ongoing investigation, though authorities have not released the individual’s identity. The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the scope of the drug ring.
Police Response and Statements
Deputy Chief Kylee Hawks, commander of the South Patrol Group, posted on X about the successful seizure, stating:
“Getting any amount of drugs off the street is a win, and getting more than 160 kilos of meth off the street is a major success. Knowing this came from a tip means people want to help us make a difference in their community.”
Police also shared images of the confiscated meth, cash, and handgun, highlighting the scale of the operation.
Previous Meth Seizure in Dallas
This is not the first major meth bust in Dallas this year. In April 2025, the Dallas Police Department Special Investigations Division confiscated approximately 35 kilos of meth, along with small amounts of cocaine and heroin, during an investigation into a high-level Dallas-based narcotics trafficker. That haul was valued between $700,000 to $1 million, and one individual was also detained at that time.
Authorities have emphasized that both the West Oak Cliff and April busts are part of ongoing investigations targeting drug trafficking networks in the city.
Community Impact
Police officials highlighted the importance of community tips in identifying and stopping drug activity. The recent bust is expected to disrupt the distribution of meth in West Oak Cliff and surrounding neighborhoods, preventing significant amounts of the highly addictive drug from reaching local communities.
Officials continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement, noting that public cooperation plays a crucial role in combating illegal drug operations.
