Switching from a Ford F-150 to a

Cybertruck

. It feels like going from a typewriter or one of those giant computers to a laptop. Right? Comparisons are never kind… Especially when we talk about technology. The F-150 is more old-school, more for daily use… The Cybertruck is a monster, cutting-edge technology, style… can they even be compared?

A driver from Colorado sparked debate online after sharing that he traded his Ford for one of these Cybertrucks. But what seemed like a love story with

the most futuristic electric truck on the market ended on a sour note

: the driver regrets paying for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) mode. Another one…

Is Tesla’s technological advancement really worth it? Or is it not worth paying for features that aren’t even enabled yet?

The electric revolution: from roaring to humming

The owner, identified in forums as Steelheart, shared his experience after purchasing a 2025 Cybertruck AWD. He says driving it is “awesome” and that its ease of use can’t be compared to any combustion pickup.

His wife summed it up in one phrase: “It’s like going from a typewriter to a laptop.” That’s the feeling the Cybertruck gives them compared to their previous Ford F-150. The digital features, instant acceleration, and futuristic design create a huge gap compared to traditional trucks.

The Cybertruck’s FSD mode

The hype led him to pay for Full Self-Driving, a feature that promises advanced driving assistance. Well, it promises. It promises, but it still isn’t self-driving.

For the user, this was a letdown, and he called it a “waste of money.” Even though Tesla claims the FSD is designed to handle “the most stressful parts of daily driving,” in practice, many buyers find that the feature is still far from being fully autonomous. It doesn’t work! And it’s not cheap either, its price is around $12,000!!!! $12,000 for something that doesn’t work properly…

What does FSD really offer?

Tesla’s FSD works as an extension of the basic Autopilot: it can stay in lane, change lanes with assistance, park itself, and follow routes under driver supervision. But the driver has to stay alert at all times, so it’s not autonomous at all! (They could have picked a different name, don’t you think?). And of course, what annoys Steelheart and many others is having paid such a large sum for something incomplete.

The Cybertruck in real life

But not everything has been negative for this user. After the FSD fiasco, the owner is still excited about the vehicle’s overall performance (thankfully, considering how much it costs!). The Cybertruck is Tesla’s first 100% electric pickup, and it has proven capable on all types of terrain.

There are already YouTube videos comparing its strength and traction with traditional trucks like the Chevy Silverado or the Ford F-150. In one test, it even took part in a tug-of-war contest that ended with engines roaring… or rather, humming.

Modifications and active community

The model has also inspired owners to stand out with extreme mods. From custom wheels to reflective metallic wraps, some Cybertrucks look more like something out of a movie than a factory.

Is it worth making the leap?

Steelheart’s story sums up the current state of the Cybertruck pretty well: a vehicle that represents a major technological leap, but also a promise that’s still not fully delivered…

Switching from an F-150 to a Cybertruck is a generational leap (literally). But not everything about the Cybertruck is that impressive, you only have to look at the FSD, which clearly isn’t worth it.

Will Tesla manage to refine its software in the coming months and finally fulfill the promise of autonomous driving? Or will we keep finding out that not everything that shines is gold…
