Columbus Police Investigate Possible Copper Theft After Man Electrocuted on Power Line

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has named the guy who was shot and killed last week on the Near East Side of Columbus.

The man who was shot and killed on November 29, 2017, in the 1700 block of East Main Street was identified as Monroe T. Brown, 48, from the city’s South Side. He was declared dead at the scene of the crime.

A second person, whose name the police have not released, was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in downtown Columbus with gunshot wounds and is in serious condition. A Columbus police dispatcher said that he was later moved to stable condition.

Police homicide detectives in Columbus said in a release Monday evening that they are looking into robbery as a possible reason for the shooting. They have not named any suspects or given any other information about the event.
