Colorado Weather: Fall Cold Front Brings Sharp Cooldown to Start the Week

PUEBLO, Colo. – A warm October weekend in southern Colorado will give way to a sharp drop in temperatures as a strong cold front moves in late Sunday night into Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

What to Expect in the Coming Days

Temperatures will soar into the 70s and 80s across the eastern plains on both Saturday and Sunday, with mostly sunny skies and low chances of rain. However, mountain valleys will see cooler temperatures in the mid-60s and a 50% chance of afternoon showers, with some higher peaks expecting highs in the 40s to 60s and a mix of rain and light snow.

Cold Front to Sweep Through

By Sunday night, the cold front will push south through Colorado, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Monday’s highs will plummet into the 50s and 60s for most lower elevations, and the 30s and 40s for mountain zones. This will mark the first widespread chill of the season, and residents should prepare for a breezy start to the workweek.

What Drivers Should Know

Motorists on I-25 and U.S. 50 should be cautious of gusty winds and patchy low clouds as cooler air settles in.

Stay Prepared for the Weather

While temperatures will rebound slightly by midweek, another cold front is expected to arrive late next week. Make sure to protect sensitive plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing before the season’s first cold snap.
