Columbus, GA — Central Georgia starts the week under overcast skies and mild temperatures, hovering around 70°F this Monday morning. While a few light sprinkles may dot the morning commute, forecasters say there’s no need to worry about major disruptions.
Morning Clouds and Afternoon Breaks
The first half of the day will remain mostly cloudy, though brief breaks in the overcast may appear by late afternoon and early evening. Meteorologists expect skies to stay on the gray side overall, with just a few isolated showers possible toward evening.
“We’ll stay generally cloudy for much of the morning before seeing some partial clearing late in the day,” forecasters said.
Temperatures will stay comfortable and steady, reaching the upper 70s to near 80°F later in the day.
Tonight’s Forecast: Mild and Partly Cloudy
Monday night will be partly cloudy and mild, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 60s. Light winds and humidity will make for a calm night before weather changes arrive midweek.
“Expect a quiet evening with patchy clouds and mild overnight temps,” local meteorologists added.
Midweek Rain Chances and a Fall Front
Looking ahead, a cold front will begin moving through Wednesday afternoon, bringing a round of rain and a few thunderstorms across parts of west Georgia and east Alabama. The system is expected to linger into Thursday, with periods of scattered showers and gusty winds.
Behind the front comes a refreshing cool down — a welcome change after several warm and humid days.
“We’ll finally feel a taste of fall by the weekend,” forecasters said. “Morning temperatures will be crisp enough to break out a light sweater.”
Weekend Outlook: Hints of Fall
Once the front passes, drier air will settle in. Friday through Sunday should feature sunny skies, lower humidity, and morning lows in the 50s. Afternoons will stay pleasant in the 70s, creating ideal conditions for outdoor plans.
Central Georgia residents can expect that long-awaited “sweater weather” by the end of the week — a signal that fall is officially on the doorstep.
