According to police’s probable cause report, the arrest happened on Wednesday. Bystander images showed an officer taking off the man’s rodent mask, which featured gray fur, oversized ears, and a constant smile, and setting it on a Tallahassee Police Department car.

According to police documents, the inquiry started when a lady contacted to report that her child support Visa debit card—which she hadn’t seen since a late-June visit to Chuck E. Cheese—was being used by someone. The card was charged at a grocery store, a Whataburger, and a smoke establishment.

According to police documents, the woman located the perpetrator by visiting the grocery store and watching CCTV footage from the moment her card was used. The man was someone she knew from Chuck E. Cheese.

To confirm that the suspect was present, one of the police officers went inside the restaurant first when they got there. He wasn’t wearing the mask, yet he was. A police officer later noted in the probable cause report that the subject appeared extremely anxious, staring at me with wide eyes and squared shoulders.

According to police documents, the suspect had since put on the rodent mask when the officer and another officer returned to the Chuck E. Cheese. To find out if the suspect was wearing the mouse suit, the officers asked another staff member.

The officer noted that she indicated “yes” by shaking her head up and down.
