Children Endure 'Floating House of Horrors' on Florida Keys Sailboat, Police Report

A man from the Florida Keys was sent to federal jail last month on child pornography charges. This week, Monroe County police arrested him on horrifying charges that he abused his children, filmed some of the encounters, and then shared the videos.

From what the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office knows, the crimes happened on a ship where Eric Cadogan lived. It was moored at a marina in Marathon, in the Middle Keys, from 2019 until the 39-year-old man went back to Wisconsin, where he was born and raised.

Police say that his wife and five blood children lived on board with him.

In December, Cadogan was arrested in Wisconsin by the FBI on charges of distributing child pornography. This was after a sting in which he offered to sell a man hundreds of pictures of children acting sexually. It turned out that the man they were talking to on a sketchy app was a secret spy.

A guy was wearing a bracelet that police found in Cadogan’s bedroom at the Wisconsin home where he was arrested. The bracelet was seen in some of the explicit pictures of children.

He told the judge in June that he was guilty and was given 20 years in federal jail.

The federal investigation earlier this year showed that his wife, Kia Lynn Cadogan, told FBI agents that she abused one of the couple’s young children. This led the sheriff’s office to start its own investigation.

A woman aged 34 was taken by deputies in January. Two charges of aggravated child abuse and child sexual battery are still being heard against her. She is being held in county jail on a $550,000 bond while her case is being processed.

The sheriff’s office said on Tuesday that Eric Cadogan had been arrested on several felony charges, including incest, sexual attack, child cruelty, helping a child get into trouble, and lewd and lascivious behavior on a child.

He said in a statement, “Myself and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office are committed to protecting our children, who are the most vulnerable among us.” “I want to thank the Major Crimes Detectives in the Sheriff’s Office and our other law enforcement partners who worked hard to catch these two suspects.”

The shocking probable cause statement shows that Eric Cadogan raped his children, encouraged them to have sexual relations with each other, and recorded these crimes on his cell phone.

This week, a judge set a $2.2 million bond for Cadogan and told the police to keep him in jail.

There was no information available right away about either Cadogans’ legal assistance. When asked where the children were, the authorities did not answer right away.

In December, Kia Cadogan told the FBI that Eric made her molest their child. Even so, Ramsay told the Herald that he didn’t believe her story when his officers arrested her in January.

Ramsay said she had many chances to report the horrible things she said happened on the boat while she lived in the Keys and was going to and from her family’s boat.

“It’s our job to keep people safe.” “People are safe if they come forward,” Ramsay said at the time. “She was just as much of a partner in crime.”
