Chicago, IL – A 52-year-old man has been charged with felony murder following the tragic death of a 9-year-old boy, Elijah Flores, who died after a fall at a CTA station last month.
The Incident at the Clinton Station
The incident occurred on August 10, at Clinton Station (540 W. Lake St.) when Elijah Flores was seen exiting a Green Line train around 11:15 a.m. with Jonah Soria, 22. According to Chicago Police, Soria was involved in an argument with two other men at the station. The altercation escalated, leading to a dangerous pursuit.
“Soria grabbed Elijah, as he was not keeping up,” a police report states.
During the chase, Soria and Elijah were chased off the platform by the two men. Soria, trying to shield Elijah, was struck in the back with an object, causing both to fall down a flight of stairs. Elijah, who was knocked unconscious during the fall, suffered a skull fracture.
