Boise Weather Alert: Rain and Mountain Snow Expected Through the End of the Week

Boise, ID – The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a weather alert as rain and mountain snow are set to return to much of Idaho beginning late Monday and lasting through Friday, bringing wet, cool, and occasionally windy conditions across the region.

The Weather Pattern: Wet Systems Arriving from the Pacific

After a quiet and mild start to the week, a series of Pacific weather systems will move into the Northwest, spreading rain showers across the Boise Valley and into central Idaho’s mountain regions late Monday night through Tuesday.

Forecasters expect periods of rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains as moisture increases through midweek. The pattern will remain unsettled through Friday, keeping skies cloudy and conditions damp.

“We’re expecting several waves of moisture, each bringing rounds of rain and snow at higher elevations,” the National Weather Service said in its latest discussion.

Temperature Outlook for the Week

High temperatures across Boise and the Treasure Valley will stay mild for early November, reaching the low to mid-60s through Tuesday before gradually dropping into the 50s by Thursday and Friday.

In the mountain towns of McCall, Stanley, and Banner Summit, highs will stay much cooler — mostly in the 30s and 40s, with overnight lows dipping below freezing.

Forecasters say snow levels will fluctuate between 4,000 and 5,500 feet, meaning higher passes and summits could see several inches of accumulation between Tuesday and Thursday.

Midweek Forecast: Heaviest Rain and Snow Wednesday–Thursday

The greatest chance of precipitation will come on Wednesday and Thursday, when the most active part of the storm system moves through southern Idaho.

Some mixed rain and snow may develop in elevated communities such as Idaho City and Lowman, especially during early morning hours.

By Friday, rain chances will taper off, though cloudy skies and cooler temperatures will linger. A brief period of drier weather is possible over the weekend, but forecasters caution that another weak system may arrive early next week.

Travel Conditions and Safety Advice

Drivers heading through mountain passes such as Bogus Basin Road, Highway 21, and Lick Creek Summit should prepare for slick roads, slushy conditions, and reduced visibility, particularly during midweek.

Motorists are advised to:

  • Check road conditions before traveling through high-elevation routes.
  • Allow extra time for winter driving conditions.
  • Carry emergency supplies, including warm clothing and traction aids.

What’s Next: Cooler and Seasonal Weekend Ahead

Looking ahead to the weekend, forecasters expect temperatures to remain cool but near seasonal averages, with highs in the mid-50s for Boise and 40s in the mountain valleys.

If current models hold, the region could see a short-lived break from rain before another system potentially develops early next week, signaling an active start to November for the Treasure Valley and surrounding regions.
