Before Firing Her, Police Were Summoned to the Office of the State Forensic Examiner in North Dakota!

North Dakota’s state forensic examiner faced dismissal this month amidst a dramatic episode involving law enforcement presence at her office.

Reports indicate that on April 10, officers from the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Bismarck police were summoned to Dr. Barrie Miller’s office in Bismarck. Allegedly, an employee informed authorities that Miller was facing termination and exhibited concerning behavior, including discussing the firing and making troubling statements.

According to police reports, a state human resources representative cited past remarks by Miller about potential violent actions, leading to her impending termination. Concerned for Miller’s and her son’s welfare, authorities sought to ensure their safety.

During the encounter, Miller appeared composed but confused, reassuring officers of her well-being. Subsequently, she was terminated by the human resources representative and a state health official. Despite appearing to handle the situation calmly, Miller left the office with her son in the shadow of confusion.

Law enforcement reports emphasize that while Miller’s mental health was a concern, no direct threats or instances of violence were reported. Consequently, Miller was not subjected to arrest, and the case did not warrant further legal action.

Following Miller’s dismissal, former state forensic examiner Dr. William Massello will assume interim responsibilities while the search for a replacement unfolds.
