IN MIAMI — Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, will not be going to the Republican National Convention as a delegate from Florida after all, his mother’s office said Friday.
According to Melania Trump’s office, Barron is “honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party,” but he can’t go because he already has other plans.
Evan Power, chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, said on Wednesday that the 18-year-old high school senior would be one of 41 at-large delegates from Florida to the national meeting. This is where the GOP will officially name his father as its presidential candidate for the November election.
Power didn’t answer when asked for a response on Friday.
Before the meeting on Friday, Donald Trump was asked about Barron joining the Florida group on “Kayal and Company” on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT. “He’s been a great customer.” Trump said, “And he does like politics.” “It’s kind of funny.” “Dad, this is what you need to do,” he’ll sometimes tell me.
In general, Barron Trump has been kept out of the public eye. He turned 18 in March and will graduate from high school next week. The judge in New York’s hush money case told the court that there would be no court on May 17 so that Trump could go to the graduation of his son.
There are three people from Florida going to the conference in Milwaukee from July 15th to July 18th. They are Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Trump’s youngest daughter.
