Authorities Investigate After Man, 28, and Woman, 33, Found Dead in Rural Marshall County; Suspect Still on the Run

A man and a woman were found dead early Friday morning in rural Marshall County. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says a 29-year-old man has been charged with their murders but is still on the run.

A news release on the sheriff’s office website said that the suspect, Ilias Julian Lasley, 29, is armed and dangerous. Authorities asked people to help them find him, but they warned, “If you see him or know where he is, do not approach him; call the police.”

The victims were named as Mario Murillo, 28, and Frances Tillie Gasca, 33. They lived in the country on 182nd Street, north of Marshalltown. At about 1:45 a.m. Friday, Marshall County officers were sent to the house to check on the people who lived there. Murillo and Gasca were already dead when the cops got there.

Police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation looked into the case and charged Lasley with two counts of first-degree murder. The investigation was also helped by the Marshall County Attorney’s Office.

The report said that anyone who knows where Lasley is should call the Marshall County Communications Center at 641-754-5725 or the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office at 641-754-6380.
