Asa Hutchinson says that people will have “more faith” in the Trump guilty decision over time

Asa Hutchinson says that people will have more faith in the Trump guilty decision over time.

On Thursday, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) said that the recent decision in the hush money case involving former President Trump will make people more “confident” over time.

“I think, as time goes on, America will have more and more faith in the jury result,” the former GOP presidential candidate for 2024 told CNN’s John Berman on “CNN News Central.”

Last week, Trump became the first past president to be found guilty of a felony. He was found guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to hide alleged affairs during his 2016 campaign.

Hutchinson, who is also a former federal prosecutor, said, “We have faith that 12 of our citizens will come to a fair and just decision. And I hope that in the end, there’s… more confidence versus less confidence in our justice system.”

Soon after last week’s decision in Trump’s hush money case was read, the former president slammed the court.

“This test case was rigged and shameful.” The people will decide the real decision on November 5. “They know what happened here, and everyone knows what happened here,” Trump said.

A lot of well-known Republicans, like Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (La.), have said bad things about the decision.

“I think it’s awful.” Rubio said on Fox News’ “Hannity” last week, “I think this shows today that they can go after anyone with a ridiculous charge like this and get it proven.”

“And most people don’t have the money to fight this.”

He said it was “a shameful day in American history” in a statement that came out soon after the decision was over.

“The people of the United States can see that this is law enforcement, and they know it is,” he said. “President Trump has every right to appeal this ridiculous decision, and he WILL win.”
