Forensic sources told Fox News that on Monday, a man with an AK-47 and a ski mask was caught just a few blocks from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, which is where the Republican National Convention is taking place.
Capitol Police and Homeland Security Investigators were keeping an eye on the area around the RNC when they saw a man who seemed strange walking toward them. A source told Fox News that he was carrying a combat bag and wearing a ski mask.
The cops found the gun and a full magazine inside the bag. It wasn’t clear what he wanted to do.
Fox News confirmed the story and said that a 21-year-old guy was arrested on Monday around 1 p.m. on the 1200 block of N. 11th Street.
Police said the man does not have a license to carry a gun in Wisconsin or any other state.
Police said charges won’t be made until the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office looks into the case.
Fox News called the Secret Service to ask about the event and was told to call Milwaukee Police. Fox News has also tried to get in touch with Homeland Security Investigations and the Department of Homeland Security but has not yet heard back.
This is not the only incident at the RNC that makes people worry about security. A man was shot and killed by cops on Tuesday, not far from Fiserv Forum. A witness told Fox News that the man was holding a knife when he was shot. He lived in a nearby homeless camp.
It was also Tuesday that Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Minn., said a protester hit him. He said that a CODEPINK member hit him while he was waiting in line to get into the place. It was what he called a “incident of political violence.”
CODEPINK said the lady “was intentionally bumped into by this bald, white member of Congress while he tried to shove past her.” The political group said Orden wasn’t attacked.
The theme of the RNC on Tuesday is “Make America Safe Again,” and former President Trump has asked for action to be taken on crime in Milwaukee.
