Arizona Man Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping of 11-Year-Old, Admits He “Would Do It Again”

TOLLESON, AZ – A 34-year-old Arizona man, Christopher Leon, has been arrested for attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Tolleson, police say, and reportedly admitted that he “would do it again”. Leon is facing charges of attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault, and authorities revealed he has a history of sexual offenses involving children.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 29, near the intersection of 87th Avenue and Van Buren Street. The young girl was reportedly walking home from school when Leon grabbed her by the forearms, attempting to place cash in her hands. The girl refused the money, and according to police, Leon then asked her the time and threatened to return the next day to target her again.

Frightened, the girl broke free and ran back toward school, prompting Leon to flee in the opposite direction and board a Valley Metro bus, where security cameras later helped authorities identify him.

Arrest and Confession

Leon was arrested on Saturday morning near the intersection of U.S. Interstate 10 and West Chandler Boulevard in north Phoenix. During an interview with investigators, he allegedly admitted to being sexually aroused by the victim, trying to lure her with $6, and claiming he would have attempted to kiss her had she not escaped.

According to police documents, Leon confessed to three similar incidents involving children in Tucson and Tolleson, including a 2017 conviction for sexual abuse after assaulting a girl at a bus stop. He also reportedly admitted to indecently exposing himself to an adult woman on a bus in Tolleson.

Police and Community Concerns

Authorities have expressed concern over Leon’s statements admitting he would repeat such behavior if not held accountable. Law enforcement highlighted the risk posed to children in public spaces, emphasizing vigilance for suspicious activity near schools and transit stops.

The suspect’s history of sexual offenses and repeated targeting of minors have heightened public concern in Tolleson and surrounding areas. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full scope of Leon’s actions.

Legal Proceedings

Leon is currently being held in the Maricopa County Jail on a $750,000 bond. He faces attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault, and other charges related to his past offenses and the recent attempted attack.

The community has been advised to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and ensure children are accompanied when walking to and from school.
