Police say that on Monday night, a guy from Thrall, Texas, broke into a house with a knife that said “Hail Satan” and was shot by the owner.
Taylor Police said that 23-year-old Austin Sumpter was arrested and charged with breaking into a house with the plan to commit a felony.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, a homeowner called the police to say that a guy with a knife was trying to break into their house.
Police said that the man, later named Sumpter, broke into the house while they were on their way there and was shot by the owner.
When the police got there, they saw Sumpter lying on the front porch with a single gunshot wound to the hip.
Police also found a big knife and a sheath with the words “Hail Satan” written on them that Sumpter was supposedly carrying.
Sumpter was taken to a nearby hospital to get care for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detectives got a warrant out for Sumpter’s arrest, and as soon as he got out of the hospital on Wednesday morning, he was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
