In arrest and court documents reminiscent of a horror movie, accusations have surfaced against a Baton Rouge man, Jacob Woods, accused of assaulting a woman with a blowtorch, reports WAFB.
Woods, 27, was apprehended in Shreveport after an April 7 incident at his residence. According to the victim, Woods choked her unconscious and subjected her to sexual assault using a blowtorch.
Further details from the arrest documents reveal the victim sustained a burn mark on her face from the blowtorch, as Woods forced it into her mouth.
The nightmarish accounts continue, alleging Woods attempted to extract the victim’s teeth with pliers, submerged her head in an unflushed toilet, and threatened her life with a butcher knife.
Woods faces multiple charges, including:
- Second-degree sexual battery
- Third-degree rape
- Second-degree battery
- Battery of a dating partner
- Aggravated assault
- False imprisonment
- Aggravated battery
Investigations by WBRZ uncovered previous domestic violence incidents involving Woods. Court records indicate a prior assault on a woman in his home in November, where he also attempted to choke her unconscious. These altercations allegedly stemmed from accusations of infidelity.
Despite bonding out in December on a $15,000 bond, Woods was re-arrested in Shreveport following the April 7 attack.
District Attorney Hillar Moore expressed shock at the severity of the allegations, labeling it one of the worst cases he has encountered in his career.
Nationally, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence presents alarming statistics on domestic violence:
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner.
- Regarding rape, staggering figures from ncadv.org reveal that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men in the United States have been raped in their lifetime.
