Alaska Airlines passenger opens emergency exit and climbs onto wing of plane, airport says

Alaska’s Anchorage (KTUU/Gray News) – When an Alaska Airlines flight arrived in Seattle, a passenger climbed atop the aircraft’s wing and opened the emergency exit door.

Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, a woman aboard Alaska Airlines flight 323 started to feel nervous during the deplaning procedure, according to a Seattle-Tacoma International Airport official.

The spokeswoman said she then went on to climb out onto the aircraft’s wing.

The incident at gate N9 was attended by the Port of Seattle Fire and Port Police crisis team.

The passenger was assisted by the fire team in getting down the wing and onto the ramp. The crisis team decided that sending the traveler to the hospital for additional assessment was the appropriate course of action.

There were no reported injuries, and the incident had no effect on any other operations.
