After Biden Steps Down, a Democratic Group Spends $20 Million on Ads That Attack Trump

A big Democratic super PAC runs a $20 million ad campaign in battleground states criticizing former President Trump for what happened on January 6, 2021, after the Republican convention and the change at the top of the Democratic ticket.

On Friday, American Bridge 21st Century ads will start to air as part of the campaign. This group is also the party’s main opposition study group. It’s a big bet on the blue wall states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Democrats were shocked when Vice President Harris decided not to run for reelection, making Vice President Biden the expected nominee.

“Abortion, democracy, and freedom have always been at the heart of American Bridge’s plan to beat Donald Trump.” “Voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are remembering that Trump is guilty of the violent attack on our Capitol that killed police officers, that he is a convicted felon, and that even his cabinet and staff don’t think he’s fit to be president,” said Bradley Beychok, co-founder of American Bridge 21st Century.

People are sick of Trump’s chaos and damage everywhere he goes. “They want to stop being scared about what might happen if he stays in charge for another four years,” he said. “These ads are even more powerful now that he’s running against a dedicated former attorney general and prosecutor who spent years putting criminals like him in jail.”

In the first ad, a guy named Joe from Pennsylvania’s Northumberland County talks over a video of the attack on the Capitol on January 6. He said the protests on January 6 would not have happened if Trump hadn’t called for violence. He used to be a Republican.

In the ad, Joe says, “He has no idea what is right or wrong.”

The $20 million ad buy is part of American Bridge’s $200 million spending in the 2024 cycle.

Biden said Sunday afternoon that he would not run for a second term because he was worried that he would not be able to beat former President Trump in November. This came as more and more elected Democrats called for him to step down. Not long after that, he backed Harris as the choice.

Harris has quickly gained support among Democrats and already has enough delegates’ support to be the likely Democratic choice.
