A guy was given a 50-year prison sentence after being found guilty of killing his adopted son.
Following the discovery of the 7-year-old dead in a washing machine in July 2022, Jemaine Thomas, 45, was charged with capital murder. Thomas accepted the 50-year sentence after entering a guilty plea to the murder allegation.

Tiffany Thomas, Troy’s 38-year-old adoptive mother, pleaded guilty in February to a lesser charge of child injury and is awaiting sentencing on September 10.
What happened?
At around 5:20 a.m. on July 28, 2022, Precinct 4 constable deputies responded to a missing people call in the Birnamwood subdivision’s 4400 block of Rosegate Drive.
Troy’s parents informed deputies that he had been missing since 4 a.m.
Deputies discovered the youngster inside a top-load washing machine in the garage while searching the house.
According to court filings, Troy had blunt-force trauma, asphyxiation, and maybe drowning. His face was injured, and his body was covered in numerous bruises. Blood was also discovered by investigators on other parts of the house and on the washing machine.
Court records state that Troy was threatened with being placed in an oven until he confessed after he consumed some of Tiffany Thomas’ oatmeal cream pies. According to the prosecution, Jemaine Thomas was enraged when he realized the child had eaten his doughnut sticks and said, “I need to get the [locks]” in text conversations. I’m going to kill him in the end.
According to investigators, the Thomases adopted Troy as a foster kid in 2019. KPRC 2 was informed by officials that the family had a history with Child Protective Services.
