A three-year-old boy with autism who had been reported missing was found dead in a body of water at a Florida vacation on Thursday.

A statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said that Rakim Akbari went missing earlier that same day after getting lost with his family while at the Sheraton Vistana Village in Orlando.

It’s not clear if the child was found in one of the resort’s pools or in a man-made lake on the grounds.

“It is with heavy hearts that we must share that our deputies have found Rakim Akbari deceased in a body of water at the resort where he was reported missing this morning,” said the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

It also said, “We are saddened by his death and pray for his family.”

As soon as Rakim went missing on Thursday, police put out a missing person report with a picture of him.

Rakim, who goes by the name “Tuda,” has autism, and his safety is very important to everyone. “When he was last seen this morning, he was wearing white pajama pants and a maroon shirt,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said already.

“Please help us find this 3-year-old boy who has gone missing.” He got lost from a lodge in the 8800 block of Palm Village Circle this morning, July 18.

The police have not yet said for sure what killed the child.

Authorities in Orange County say that “detectives are still looking into how this tragedy occurred.”
