A Texas prisoner who had gotten away from his 20-year sentence for burglary and robbery was caught three miles from Angleton prison last night.
At midnight on Sunday, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said that a regular count was being done when security guards at the Clemens Unit trusty camp found that Kidanny Robles, 33, was missing.
A quick investigation showed that Robles had left the facility, which was a place for prisoners who needed less supervision to live outside of the main jail.
Authorities from all over the country, including the Office for the Inspector General, looked for Robles and found him three miles from the jail, almost ten hours after he was reported missing.
All visits to the jail were canceled on Sunday because staff were helping to look for Robles.
Robles refused to stop when police told him to. After that, a captain from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice shot him in the arm.
Robles is currently serving a 20-year sentence out of Bexar County for aggravated robbery, robbery, and burglary of a dwelling. He also has a 180-day sentence out of Nueces County from 2022 for possession of a controlled drug.
He is now being charged with felony escape for getting away from jail.
