Sacramento police are asking for help finding a girl who is 17 years old and hasn’t been seen in almost two months. She is thought to be with a guy in his mid-20s.
Isabel Gallego, a student in high school who is studying on her own, was last seen by her parents on April 19th. Her mother, Julie Gallego, said she was not in her room the next morning. The teen only brought a backpack with her and left her phone in her room.
The Sacramento Police Department said they think Isabel is with Kyree Jackson, 25. Jackson has two felony warrants out of Sacramento County for illegally having a gun and stealing a car.
Julie Gallego said she thinks Isabel didn’t mean to leave for a long time, even though the girl did run away from home when she was 13. Isabel Gallego’s mother said that she had ordered jewelry for her senior pictures, but it didn’t come until after she was gone. And the girl was making plans for her 18th birthday at the end of June. Julie Gallego said in an interview that she was excited to move forward with her boyfriend.
She said, “This was just not in her plan.”
Police say that after Isabel Gallego left Sacramento, she was tracked to Portland, Oregon, and then she was seen in Seattle. Because of her age, she was seen as a risk, and Officer Anthony Gamble, a spokesman for the Police Department, said that detectives think Isabel is a victim of human trafficking.
Her mother said that the teen met Jackson about two weeks before she went missing. Jackson had even come to the Gallegos’ house and presented himself to Isabel’s parents as a 19-year-old friend.
“He just made us feel weird.”
Julie Gallego said, “He came into our house and shook our hands.” The guy who brought us candy made us feel weird.
Galego said that Jackson was “a pimp” to her daughter and her friends. She also said that Jackson was “probably her downfall” because the 17-year-old is very trusting of people.
But records from the Sacramento Superior Court show that Jackson is being charged with felonies for having guns and stealing a car. Court records show that Jackson skipped his pre-trial services and messed with the ankle monitor that the court gave him, making it useless.
Gamble said that officers “have been working hard” to find Isabel and Jackson, but they have “used up all of their leads.”
Julie Gallego told the police that she was “very grateful” for their work in finding the girl.
“The detective who was given the case has worked so many long hours,” she said. He really wants to find her, and I’m thankful for that.
As of now, the California Highway Patrol has not sent out an Amber Alert for the teen.
It’s about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 105 pounds. At the time she went missing, she had brown eyes, green hair, and several scars in her face, but police say she may have changed how she looks. I am 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh 165 pounds.
Julie Gallego said that her daughter was “very creative” and that she liked to paint, draw, crochet, and make clothing patches. Her mother told me that she shows who she is through her hair, tattoos, and clothes, which change every month.
Her mother said she was also involved in the Sacramento punk rock scene and that she and her friends often went to shows at the Colony on Stockton Boulevard.
